Magical Midnight Mushroom Beaded Pendant, and Other Random News

I just realized that I never posted about the newest pendant in my Etsy shop! This one is made entirely of Japanese glass seed beads and organic cotton thread. I call it the Magical Midnight Mushroom. It was inspired by the fly agaric mushroom, widely portrayed in folklore and fairy tales. Baba Yaga is often shown with them, and they are frequently used in illustrations of Alice, and just magically forest scenes. They are pretty cool. If you look closely, my little mushroom has a face on both sides ^_^ So here is the pendant, plus some little mushrooms that were growing in our yard - two areas had little fairy rings growing! Unfortunately, we had to mow the lawn, and now they are gone :(

In other news, I got my Level 2 Crystal Reiki attunement earlier this month, which was pretty cool. One more to go! I'll be getting it sometime in July, most likely. Also, I took Doreen Virtue's Fairyologist course, which was really fun!! It was my birthday present to myself. And I am now a certified Fairyologist:

I have been working on the dress for my Amethyst Faerie doll, she should be done in a week or so if all goes well. Here are some recent progress pics:

The weather has been super hot here, and off and on the air quality hasn't been so good either, so I've been pretty much stuck in the house, and not feeling well. But, as you can see, I've had a lot to do anyways, which I am thankful for!

Another piece of good news is that I will be drawing soon! Not digital illustration, which I have been doing the past few years because of health problems, but actual drawing on papyrus! I've missed it so much, but I think I should be okay with the materials I got, and I'm really excited! Below are the beautiful bronze calligraphy pens I got, along with an assortment of nibs.

WIP: Amethyst Faerie

I finally gave my poor little Amethyst Faerie doll some hair! I actually made her several months ago, started her last November, I believe. But, between injuries, classes, holiday stuff and trying to get my Etsy store going, it just seems like I never get to finish her. So I'm happy that she at least has hair now. And I do have a general idea for what I'd like to do for her dress, so I can start working on it between other projects. 

As always, she is made of Japanese glass seed beads, organic cotton thread & fiber fill. Her ball joints are made of real amethyst beads. In my imagination, Amethyst Faerie is actually made entirely of amethyst! But, realistically, that isn't possible, so I'm happy that I can at least incorporate some real amethyst into making her - I will probably put some small ones on her dress too. So, enough of that, here she is:

Little Red Riding Hood

I'm finally getting a chance to play this weekend! It seems like ages since I've been able to play with my porcelain BJDs, I've been so busy the past several months. So I did a little mini photo shoot with Kisa - she's dressed like Little Red Riding Hood ^_^ Instead of her normal red wig, I wanted to see what she'd look like as a brunette (that, and I think it looks better with the red hood). I think she looks pretty cute this way, although I still like her best in the red wig. But it's nice for a change.  So, here she is - wig, clothes and shoes are all by me. What do you think of her like this?

Kawaii Snegurochka & Snow Bunny

I finally got pictures of my 2 new dolls- sorry it took so long, it seems like I've been crazy busy lately!

This doll is inspired by the Russian fairy tales about Snegurochka. She is described as a beautiful maiden literally made of snow. She is usually portrayed with forest animals, most often a rabbit, so I made her friend Snow Bunny. This is a Kawaii version of Snegurochka, with a snowflake lace dress, and she has rabbit ears to match her bunny friend. Her hair is made of snowflakes too.

Snegurochka is approximately 10 inches tall (including ears), and has 13 points of articulation. Snow Bunny is approximately 6 inches tall, and has 8 points of articulation. They are made of Japanese glass seed beads, organic cotton thread & fiberfill, and Swarovski pearls.

Snegurochka will be available for commission on my Etsy shop by next week. I need to make another animal doll so that I can price Snow Bunny- I was writing the pattern while I made her, so I have no idea how long it took. But if you're interested in her, let me know and I'll get back to you on it as soon as I can :)
