New Illustration: Cinderella (Fairy Tale Fashion Series #2)

Cinderella (Fairy Tale Fashion #2)
©2013 Debi Cady

Inspired by the German folktale "Aschenputtel", and other versions of the Cinderella story. Cinderella stands beneath the trees, with two doves helping her dress for the ball. Her gown is made of silver, gold, precious gems and pearls. An enchanted pumpkin patch surrounds the scene, with four white mice hiding amongst the vines. This is the second illustration in my Fairy Tale Fashion series.

New Doll: Ambrozetta, the Amber Faerie (Gemstone Faeries #1)

I am beginning a new series of dolls, the Gemstone Faeries. ^_^ My first gemstone faerie is the Amber Faerie, her name is Ambrozetta. "Ambrozetta" means "immortal" in Greek, and is also used to refer to amber and other similar-looking minerals.

She is 6 inches tall, and is made of 100% organic cotton yarn and stuffing. She has a steel wire armature, so she is posable (gently, of course). All the colors used for her skin, hair, facial features and clothing represent the colors of amber: honey (yellow), white, green and red. She has real pieces of Baltic amber on her dress and also an amber necklace and bracelet.

For her dress I knit a few pieces of lace using a traditional Estonian lace stitch - because a lot of amber is found in the Baltic Region, I thought it was fitting, and it was just such a beautiful pattern! There were 3 variations of it, but I chose the one that had a lace flower at the top.

Gomong Khora Dress

I made a new dress for Ishtar a few days ago. It is made of organic cotton jersey, with bamboo trim that I wove last summer. The design on the trim is a traditional motif from Bhutan called "gomong khora".

Mint Creme

I made Kisa a new dress for summer. Actually, I finished it over a week ago, but I have been a bit lazy about taking pictures, and then the lighting was really bad because we were getting rain/thunderstorms. So I just got around to taking pictures today.

The dress is made of mint green organic cotton jersey, and undyed organic cotton pointelle. I still need to make shoes to go with it, but here it is:

Katya

My birthday present arrived a little early (not that I'm complaining lol) ^_^ Her name is Katya, she is a 35cm porcelain BJD made by JRDolls in Russia. I haven't decided a lot about her background and personality yet, but she is half-Croatian and half-Ukrainian, and she's quite a sexy, sassy girl.

In the photos she is wearing a dress I made her - it's all organic cotton (poplin and jersey), and was inspired by life beneath the sea. There are "plants" made of lapis lazuli around the hem, with glass bead "air bubbles" floating upward. I still need to make the shoes, she got here so quickly that I didn't get them done yet! But I wanted to take pics of her, so here they are:
